We loaded onto our first plane at about 8:15 a.m. in Omaha ready to go to St. Louis and then transfer to Oklahoma City. We were then informed that the potable water on the plane had frozen overnight and that would take 30 minutes to thaw. After that, the plane was going to have to be de-iced. I don't believe we left the runway until 9:45 a.m. Not cool.
Immediately when we landed in St. Louis (around 11:30 a.m.), we had to board another plane to go to Oklahoma City. The people on that plane were apparently not happy with us because they were waiting about a half hour for our plane to land and us to load on. Oh well, we weren't happy either. Of course that plane was completely full, so most of us had to sit in the middle seat. :-/
By the time we landed in OKC, it was about 1:30 p.m., and no one had really eaten anything yet (we were up at 4:20 a.m.) so we were all starving. First we had to pick up our luggage....and go figure, about eight bags were missing from the group (mine included). Why not just add another headache to the trip?
Then we filed our claims (hopefully we get all of our things tonight!) with the airline and left to get lunch. How ironic is it that literally two minutes after we get into the restaurant, another college team comes walking in? (Lubbock Christian, I believe.) I'm pretty sure the staff loved us all at that point, having to serve 30+ large basketball players.
After lunch it was about 3:30 and we checked into our hotel and left for practice at 4:45 (which is where we are right now).
How's that for a fun day? Needless to say, everyone's ready to head back to the Eastern Shore and be "home" for awhile.
