Yesterday afternoon, Coach Blaine and I took Josh and Tyler to speak at the STARS after-school program at Prince Street Elementary. (Casey Morton, Amber Cook, Talareah Frazier and Coach Batchelor also attended.) The guys talked to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders (right Josh? :-) ) about making good choices, staying focused and studying. They did such a great job and the kids were really into it.
After they spoke to the kids, everyone broke off into the gym where they did some basketball drills and the kids sure did have fun! (So did the players!)

Softball Support
These photos are from a weekend ago from the softball games against Morgan State. I'm the official scorer for the team and the guys usually come out to support the Lady Hawks. It wasn't particularly cold that afternoon, but the guys were FREEZING. The Wisconsinite that I am, I always have a few blankets in my car, so Mark, Josh and Tyler took me up on my offer and immediately ran out to my car to get them.
Again, camera phone poor quality, but it was funny to see them all cuddled up in blankets.

Spring Fest 2010
Today is a very special day at UMES, something I didn't even know existed... Spring Fest!
I knew we were setting up a table for giveaways for this morning, but I really had no idea what was going on. We talked to a ton of kids and future UMES students and gave away a bunch of freebies! (Who doesn't like a freebie?)
They also have a carnival set up on the outdoor track with all kinds of rides, entertainment and food. I know for sure all the students and community are enjoying this! Stan and I went out there for lunch and grabbed some good eats.
There is also going to be a concert tonight with Slick Rick and Dougie Fresh. I had never heard of them before (come on, I was 3 when they were hot!) but definitely got my fair share of learning about them this afternoon as Stan kept playing me some of their hits!
It's going to be a crazy night on the campus of UMES! I hope that all students, fans and community members have a ton of fun, but most importantly, please be safe... we need you guys!

Updates coming soon
I apologize for being on a blogging-hiatus lately. I was meaning to post photos immediately following the MEAC Tournament, but got wrapped up in a bunch of other things. I will try to work on getting some new posts up ASAP with some photos from the past few weeks.
Hope everyone is enjoying this beaaaautiful weather!
